Travelling in Armenia: what to know

Armenia is small: Lake Sevan is under an hour from Yerevan, Garni and Geghard forty minutes, and Khor Virap with its Ararat view about an hour. In a week by car you can see almost every highlight.

Go with a guide where history matters most — Etchmiadzin, Geghard, Tatev. Lake Sevan, Dilijan and Yerevan’s brandy tastings are easy to do on your own.

When to go

The best time is May–June and September–October. In winter, the Tsaghkadzor ski resort is open.
